I didn't find it on CL but I think I found a donor motor for my truck at this place:

http://www.partsbyconnors.com/index.html

I got a neighbor who works with these guys and he told me to give them a call. They had a good running 5.7 TBI just pulled out of an 87 K5. I am waiting for a call back on it. $450. And it's 2 miles from me. :High 5:

Go get that already!!!! Oh wait, you did already :laughing1:

IMHO, the small block kills it. That's just too much truck and not enough motor, so it's always working hard and there's no fuel savings over a big block. A 292 six would be cool, but they drink the fuel too.

I think it's the old saying "the sum of its parts is worth more than it is whole". There's some good goodies there, I wish I coulda picked up something like that for $2000.

I guess I should have said I still think it's a great deal, even without a big block. My post came off a little snooty and anti-small block, lol.

You were right though, driving that 6500 pound truck with a worn out 350 coupled to a power-sapping TH400 had to be un-fun.

What's the difference between that truck and a 3/4 ton Burb with a 350? 2 feet of frame and bed is about it. That 400 trans is a 3 speed right? Boo....
