Yes that’s right, I want to quiet my my exhaust on my truck. It’s a little obnoxious paired with 4.10 gears, th350 tranny and camed sb. Looking for the best and cheapest route to go to quiet my Flowmasters down. The exhaust turns out to a 90 behind rear tires.

Replace your flowmasters and make sure the exhaust doesnt exit under the bed at all.

It exits outside the bed behind the tire. What about resonators or silencers? Replacing the whole system won’t be cheap

Id just replace the mufflers only. Go with a Dynomax or Magnaflow muffler.

I dont weld, but Im sure a shop wouldnt charge much to cut off mufflers and weld in new ones, especially if it were a cash deal.

2 mufflers might cost you 100-150 depending on how long you get. The longer the muffler, the quieter it will be. And you dont loose power doing that.

Thanks for recommending dynomax. I listened to a sound clip of the super turbos, I was inpressed.

I got annoyed with my thrush welded mufflers (similar to flowmasters). Read good things about magnaflow and had a shop change mufflers to them.
At first I was disappointed- it was so quiet it idle I didn't like it. But it just was from the "shock" of something so different. I like it a lot now. Quiet at idle, pretty quiet on the highway, but will sound mean when you floor it.
My exhaust just dumps under the bed near the front axle BTW.

That's what I have. I went to the muffler shop thinking Flowmaster but the guy said I wouldn't be happy with the extra noise since I drive a Suburban. That was 16 years ago and if it ever wears out I'll put the exact same thing on again.

Big body rv mufflers and exit out the back instead of the side.

magnaflow i had on one truck wasn’t bad. the best one i have had and still have is my corsa setup. not loud just cruising, a little rumble when you really get in it and no drone at all. the magnaflow has a little drone right at cruising rpm

So are you wanting to hear your girlfriend better or hear the stereo???

Find some of those OEM round stock mufflers off a 3/4 ton big block. They're quiet as can be. All I even hear of my engine is carb roar when I nail the skinny pedal.
