OK Retro, so yeah you're getting alot of info in there that may confuse the question. I see it but maybe others don't. So now translaste for us, Does a K10 and a K20 have the same frame??? I am going to make and assumption that is also works for Burb too. Meaning, you can convert a K10 Burb to a K20 Burb just as easy as you can a K10 to K20 Pick Up??? But, if you choose to do this to a K5 Blazer, you will have to use 52in K20 springs becasue a Blazer is not likley punched for 56in spring hangers. Make sense? Or am I the only one seeing this? Just trying to prove that its true, witout confusing anyone. Point in, in K10 and K20 pick up frames interchange and are alike, and K10 and K20 Burb frames interchange and are alike.

Suburbans with rear seats have a different frame than Suburbans without rear seat. Same with 40 gallon tank and whatever else was offered.

ok well all that info confused the **** out of me. I have also done alot of research for a cummins swap in the SB trucks, simply put the K10 frames are lighter then the K20 so it is NOT reccomended to put a 6BT in a K10 frame, Even in the K20 Frames they Reccomend to box the frame.

Yeah, that's why I was trying to get Retro to translate the Hollander info.

On that Cummins swap info, are you sure its not C10 and C20 that may be differant??? I am just about 100% certain, K10 and K20 frames are identical year for year. Spring hanger location and axles being the only differance, and the frames are punched for the hangers to go in either location for 52 or 56 springs, and even use the same hangers. Notice I said, just about 100% certain. I need to find the proof dammit.

When I go back to Budget Wrench, I will take notes...There were K10s, K20s (well stripped), C10s, C20s, C30s...

I could see the Heavy Halfs using a 3/4 frame, Kind of like ford with there camper special package. But a regular ole 1/2 t frame isn't the same as a 3/4

Or atleast that the info that I ahve come up with,

I don't see any reason to delete that. Its very generic, and not a direct competitor. This isn't that other site Pops. Were not real big dicks here, just little dicks. :roflbow::roflbow::roflbow:

According to them, it needs to be measured. And they are reffering to a short bed frame in the earlier part, but the OP does state he has thinner long bed. Guess it has to be measureed to know. I can measure my C20 and my K10, but again, that's not comparing apples to apples since one is 2wd and one is 4wd.

Well If you measure yours theres bound to be another member on here with the same year as yours that could measure theres but we need to know if its a heavy half or not actually it would be nice if we could measure all 3 of them

Thanks Sky. I'd say that pretty much settles it. I'll be able to sleep tonight. Of course that is on Burbs. If we go by that as if pick up frames are the same, then we are talking .015 differace. About the thickness of a matchbook cover maybe. Even if we find pick ups follow suite as the Burbs do, I wouldn't hesitate to use the 1/2 ton frame for a 3/4 ton duty workhorse. There are pros and cons to both. Obvously the 1/2 ton frame is going to be a bit lighter, and you'd think it might have just a hair more flex to it also. Thanks again Sky, I think you have posted up on another thread somewhere now that I think about it. :waytogo:

I read that a few months ago somewhere else but couldn't remember where. I've been looking for that info since this thread began and glad I finally found it.

Note that the difference between a 2500 4x4 and a 2wd 1500 is a 20% thicker frame. That's enough to search out the 3/4T frame as a starting point for a Cummins swap.
