Oh ide do the conversion for you. If the truck was a K20 Ide be interested in it. Remember me saying my cousin had a K20 with the 6.2 in it? I guess I need to find out for sure what year it is I might have one located for cheap and not even realize it but cant remember if it is an 83 or if it was an 84

Yeah, I'm wondering why you haven't been all over that truck. Really, I think you need to research the K10 and K20 frames. I am farily certain in the K series, they are the same frame. Same thickness, tensile strength and all. Almost positive about that.

But, see what you can find out to confirm or deny that the K10/K1500 and K20/K2500 frames are the same or differant. I want to say they are the same for some reason, I am not finding the info now but will continue to find out as time permits. I want to know myself too for reasons. I want the strength but I also want the flex. When I was checking into this before, someone had mentioned for wheeling the K10/K20 frame is better for flexing and lighter weight than the K30, which I knew, so some wheelers even prefer the K10/20 frame and tranfer K30 springs and axles. Mostly for the Rock Crawlers. I am not so much interested in Rock crawling as I am mud basically. Actually not even mud, but trail and hill climbing moreso than anything. So yeah, its important to know for both you and I. I kinda want to do the same thing you are doing, we might end up with twinkie trucks if I ever get the funds. But, I like the 454 better in the Vortec cuz it gets away from the spider injectors, also goes better with the 4L80-E. But, we'll see what we find and go from there. Oh, and I wouldn't even mind mine being in a Blazer or Burb. I only tow bumper pull trailers.

Here we go Pops. I don't mind linking to another one of Shaggy's sites, but this guy here says, K10 and K20 frames are even the same part #. This would be the 2nd source that tells me so. I can't find the other source. Its all a matter of putting 3/4 ton springs and the 14B FF in the rear, and putting 8 lug hubs and rotors on the front. That's it. Simply done. It doesn't work this way on the C10 and C20, but it does on the K10 and K20.

Well, I want more proof than that. Just cuz 1 guy says it, doesn't mean its true. But I forget where and how I got the definate info at one time, but now can't find it. Seems a guy worked for a body shop and had all the crossover info, and a K10 and K20 frame are the same for the right years. The V10 and V20 frames are the same too, but a differant part # than the K10 and K20, then of course the differant part #'s for 80 are earlier too, but still even then, the K10 and K20 for those years was the same, as is also for the 67-72 K10 and K20 are the same. This is only in the 4x4 frames though, not 2wd.

So what you are saying then, according to Hollander, all the 81-87 K10/K1500 frames are the same part # as 81-87 K20/K2500???

If tha's what you're saying Hollander says, then I say that's justified proof enough, the K10 and K20 frames are the exact same.
So the only differance then will be, the rear springs, the rear end with 3/4 ton brakes, and the front hubs with 8 lug rotors and 3/4 ton calipers, and likley the Master Cylinder maybe a differant # since you'd hope the master might have a little bigger bore for the 3/4 ton. I wouldn't be suprised though if it doesn't.

The Hollander is gospel...:D Though if you look at it, it's saying 1981 AND 1987 K10 frames are the same as 1981 TO 1987 K20 with HD suspension frames. 1984-86 frames are the same too...

Though it is slightly wrong on a blower motor for a 1990-96 GM FWD minivan...Says Eldorado fits and they are as different as apples and cockroaches.

And the reason this could be is, and many are not aware of this, and you can check this for me too to verify the validity, but C10/C1500 's can have either 52 or 56 inch rear springs. Also, K20/K2500 can have 52 or 56 inch rear springs. All other models have 1 or the other. Example, ALL K10/K1500's have 52in rear springs, ALL C20's have 56in rear springs.
Only the 2wd half ton, and the 4wd 3/4 ton can have either spring size.
But, I am a little confused, I guess becasue you are not including a part #. So it these 82 Frames differant from all the rest above???

Here is the excerpt from one of my first threads I ever posted here.

Ever wondered what size leaf springs you have on your Squarebody truck? Here is some info I put together for another forum that obviously didn't appreciate it much. I have a K10 that I am converting to a K20. This research answered alot of my questions for me. Notice a C10 and a K20 are the only models that could possibly have either the 52 or the 56 inch springs depending on the RPO code and factory installed equipment. BTW, both frames C and K are punched to be able to accept both size springs. The spring hangers are the same for 52 or 56 inch springs. So if you want to change your spring size, simply grind off the rivets, and use grade 8 bolts to relocate your spring hangers in the other set of holes already punched in your frame from the factory. One of the many things I love about GM, making things very universal and interchangeable. But, do keep in mind, C and K frames do use differant spring hangers. So although you can move the hangers to change your spring size, you must use K hangers for the K frame, and C hangers for the C frame. Very simple if whatever truck you are working on, simply use the same hangers on the truck you are working on, and they can be relocated without any fabbing or welding whatsoever.

Front Leaf Springs
K10, K20, and K30 Use the same springs. Differance is, they come in 2 leaf, 3 leaf or 4 leaf set up. All 3 set ups are interchangeable between all 3 models.
I'd imagine the K30 comes in the 4 leaf set up, but the K10 and K20 could be either the 2 or 3 set up depending on heavy duty RPO code or not.

Rear Leaf Spring 2WD C10, C20, C30.
C10 can be 52 inch or 56 inch springs. Depending on Heavy Duty RPO code.
C20 is 56 inch springs. # of leafs and thickness of spring pack depends on RPO code, ie... Smooth Ride, Heavy Duty etc.
C30 is 56 inch springs. # of leafs and thickness of spring pack depends on RPO code. 10 Leafs is Heavy Duty 1 ton.

Rear Leaf Springs 4WD K10, K20, K30.
K10 is 52 inch springs. # of leafs and thickness of pack depends on RPO code.
K20 can be 52 inch or 56 inch springs. Depending on Heavy Duty RPO code or not. (Appears that 52 inch may be more common)
K30 is 56 inch springs. # of leafs and thickness of spring pack depends on RPO code.

So becasue I am converting my K10 to a K20, with drum to drum axle swaps, I am also moving the rear spring hangers on the K10 which currently has 52 inch 1/2 ton springs, and I will be installing heavier 56 inch springs off of a C20 donor truck. For my 85 K10, the master cylinder is also the same for either the K10 or K20.

I also noticed, I already check the Master Cylinder part #'s for K10 and K20 and they are the same. For real, this conversion of a K10 to a K20 is as simple as boiling water if you acquire the 3/4 ton rear springs, 3/4 rear axle, and 8 lug hubs and rotors. Its that easy.
