Both the fuel and return lines make a sharp 108 degree bend at the front of the frame.

Is there a purpose for those??
Or just a routing necessity due to the position of the fuel pump connections ?

On my '75 SBC the fuel line from the tank turns about 180 degrees, and the fuel return line only turns about 90 degrees. This puts the ends right in line for short hoses to the mechanical fuel pump.
