Two questions on my 73 K10 350...

1) After accelerating, if I take my foot off the pedal, I start to hear a whistling noise. If I slightly apply pressure to the gas pedal, the noise fades a little. If I depress the gas pedal more than 25%, the whistling noise completely disappears. The whistling noise is inconsistent and isn't always audible. Any ideas what could be causing this?

2) It's been pretty hot lately but yesterday while I was driving from LA to San Diego (about a 150 mile trip), my temperature gauge stated to jump about 85 miles into the drive. It wasn't completely erratic but rather jumped up and down once from about 150 to 180 and back. Then a couple minutes later, it jumped way past the 250 mark. So I pulled off the freeway and it didn't drop until I came to a complete stop then accelerated again. I pulled into a gas station and checked the coolant - all good. So what do you guys suggest? I already ordered a new temp sensor, think this will solve the problem?

Check your grounds. The clusters normally have a pretty weak ground from the factory. As far as the whistle I have no idea

Could be. I put one on back in '89-'90 and it sounded like I had a turbo. It eventually stopped but it sounded cool.

BOTOX! my friend. It keeps those lips nice and tight instead of flapping in the wind.

Or try not whistling when you drive.

Could possibly be a vacuum leak causing the whistle. As for the coolant temp change your thermostat as it is starting to go. Soon it will not open and you will be left over heated on the side of the road.

No such thing in these old trucks with those vent windows...

It amazes me too, especially knowing how many brain cells I kill...

The noise may be your speedometer. Mine makes noise at low speed but once I accelerate I cant hear it mainly because of my exhaust.
