Right. Or if it's because of a groove you may be able to position the seal at a slightly different depth to put the seal lip on a fresh surface.

there are 2 types of repair sleeves. one is real thick and the other real thin. they both work fine. the thin one uses a factory size seal. the thicker one takes a special seal. in other words if you use the thicker one you won't be able to walk into a parts store and say "I need a seal for a 19xx truck" if that's important to you. highdesertranger
