Recently bought a 83 K10 and am running into problems with parts. Seems the previous owner has swapped parts with a pre-80's truck. First I had to replace the steering gear box and the lines were flared instead of being the later o-ring style, plus the steering coupler was too big for the gear box shaft. Turns out it was a 13/16 rag joint and the 83 box had a 3/4 shaft. Now I went to replace the u-joint on the rear driveshaft (closest to the pinion flange), bought one for a 83 and it went into the driveshaft perfectly, but the caps are too big around to go into the flange for the pinion. ( the flange has a keeper on the ends to hold the joint in, with u-bolts, instead of open on the ends with straps and bolts) Looking closer the rear end is a 12 bolt out of an earlier truck and guessing they used the 10 bolt driveshaft with a combo joint with two different size caps. Anyone ran into this and have a part number?

I know for sure that a conversion joint is available, but beyond that I'm no help.

Get the precsion book out and look at the measuments for a 12 bolt and the meassurment for your d-shaft and then look at the conversion ujoint page in the back of the book they are easy to find.
