Tuffy center console swap for new radio

I've been trying to think of creative ways not to hack my dash apart on my 88 suburban to upgrade the factory radio. I'd like to keep the original in place, probably even powered up, but install something modern in a different spot.

Anybody had any luck or experience with these?
