Tranny issue for a newbie

Hej !

Been of for a long time…., but my 81 suburban have after been standing need for a new starter ”check” on that, but now the transmission doesent engage (fluid level ok with cold Engin) it works fine before i park it, to be fair not even know what typ of tranny it is . Any step by step instruction were to start ?

Check the fluid level with it at operating temperature. If it's 4x4 make certain the transfer case isn't in neutral.

Fluid level low (not visible) when engine is running, any idea what the leakage could be caused by ?, faulty converter ? No visible oil under the car or transmission
