ok first off for dave, kinda hard to clear a 35 stock truck 4x4, pretty well impossible on a 2wd without trimming the guts out of things.
2nd. yea 10 inch helps or 8's but you're gonna need reverse offset/deep dish setup to make em stick out. Now on my gmt400 a standard 73-87 rally sticks out, but not on the 73-87's they are in the fenders and as mentioned 10's barely do stick out if any.
My old man has 7's on his 2wd and they are 2.25 backspace and still in the fenders.
IMO do a 33x12.50 if stock or try for a 35 and then run some reverse offset 8's or even reg. 10's, or reversed offset tens, they'd hang out then.
2wds are tougher, I say run some 295 50's or 60's depends on how tall you want, or maybe as mentioned 225 or 265 or bigger on 8 inch wheels reversed offset or maybe reg. 10's.
