Yes i had installed the sender with pipe dope upon installation - how would it not leak if done otherwise????
But even so, I'm beginning to believe that I have a cluster grounding issue. I've rewired the entire truck and the fuel system has been completely redone, etc. Yet the fuel gauge also does not work. All of my grounds for it was good, tank switch was new, both sending units were new. Wiring to them were new. It did have the original tank switch and I had a feeling it had failed as when i would tighten the nut on the terminal, the whole stud would also spin. So since you can't get ahold of them anymore, i had bought the updated version and wired it the 5-wire valve. Naturally, the fuel gauge still doesn't work as well. Yet when one guy hits the dash switch, the other can feel the valve clicking.
SO. I am under the impression that the cluster is not grounding correctly, because the mechanic gauges work - oil pressure, speedo, but nothing else really does.
So sometime this week I'll be removing the cluster for the hundredth time and checking some things.
