So I can't find the answer I'm looking for, hopefully I didn't just miss it. How does one tell if a 350 TBI is the 190 HP or 210 HP? I have no idea about the truck the engine came from except I believe it was a 90 Burb.

Also, I was possibly offered a GMT 400 454 out of a 3500 that's been rebuilt. Is it worth swapping my 350 out for it? How hard would that be if I did decide to?

Appreciate some feedback.

I don't think there's any easy way of telling without more info about the burb it came out of. The 1/2 tons got the higher hp engine, 210 @ 4000 rpm & 300 tq @ 2800 rpm. The 3/4 tons were 190 @ 4000 rpm & 300 tq @ 2400 rpm. I don't know if the difference was cam profile, ecm chip, or a combination of the two.

As far as the 454 swap goes, some would consider it worthwhile and others wouldn't. If you're keeping the fuel injection you'll need the computer for it or have a new prom burned. Are you running the same transmission as the the 3500? Things could get interesting if you use an ecm designed for a 4L80 and you don't have one. Also, I don't know what fuel pump you're using but the stock 5.7 pump can't feed a 454.

I'm assuming it's a 1/2 ton, but have no idea. Was hoping there'd be an easy way to tell, but I guess I'll just wing it. lol

See I figured it'd be a lot more involved than it's worth. If I was going from a carb to the 454, I wouldn't mind, but I'm just now finishing up the details of someone else's half-assed 350 swap.

Appreciate your reply!
