An 88 Sub is still a square body truck with a right hand (pass side) drop t-case. Double check the model year.

Puncuation would make your posts easier to read too.

exactly the squarebodies used a ps drop seup 73-87 in trucks and in burbs/blazers it carried on until 91.

the 88 and newer trucks then 92 and newer burbs and such use the ds drop due to ifs.

there are tons of both, ds and ps drops.

ps drops you have a 203 full time 4x4 unless converted, 205, 208 alum. case, 241

then you have a ds drop 241 and 243 i think it is. then who knows wha others.

1/2 ton or 3/4 ton will determine which u joints You will need too.
If the T case is from a 1/2 ton and the burb is a 3/4 ton then it will need an offset u joint{one side of the cross will be bigger for the 3/4 ton front diff} and if the T case is from a 3/4 ton then it will need the same ju joint but on the T case end.
I went through this a while back but I do`nt remember what the part number was on the u joints.

Sounds like someone swapped in a GMT400 trans/tcase. He could probably pick up a driver drop F*rd HP D44 from a 70's 3/4 ton cheaper than swapping around all the parts needed to line that cluster **** out. I dunno, maybe a passenger drop NP241 would bolt right up and be a little cheaper

thank for all the info . The transmission thats in it is a 700 im pretty sure but as far as i know this is one of the weaker trannys . Any thoughts ? Would a np241 bolt up to a 400 anyone know? My main idea with all this swapping gear is i want the toughest set up possible so if i cant use the 400 would 350 stand up to the one tone axles and 35in tires oh an im pushin about 450 horse power as well . Again thank for the info u guy r really helping me out i was stuck an u all know that never a good place to be !

noope it'd have to be a 32 spline np241 to make it work with a th400.

then you woul dneed a np241 or maybe 208 t-case adapter to a th400 unless you have one already.
