I started stipping down my cab floor today. I'm going to paint it with some Hammerite Rust Cap. (Black hammered finish)

I'm planning on just painting the floor, and then putting in one of those 1 piece rubber floor mats that go all the way across.

As far as sound deadener, I was thinking put some peel and seel/dynamat type stuff on the bottoms of the mat itself, and also on the cab floor under where the seat bolts down. Should that be enough?

Also, I've took some pics of things I had questions about.

Does anyone know what this wire is?

Also, what are these things that are on the floor under the seat area?

Thanks, yeah my truck doesn't even have a dome light, maybe it once did.

So, can I just paint over those drain plugs?

lol Alright thanks.

The P.O. had a aftermarket speaker box sitting behind the seat, and I unhooked the 2 main wires going to it, and took it out, maybe those wires i posted in the pics, had something to do with that.

should be easy to track down with everything out, if they go behind the seat and up the side panel, then those are dome light wires, if they are laying behind the seat, probably speakers at some point.

I think those wires might actually be for the seat belt buzzer/light. The dome light runs up the side of the cab by the door seal and into the pillar.

I put dynamat in my doors recently and its some bad ass stuff. My suggestion would be to get a pressure washer and blast the hell out of the floor, scrub everything really good with degreaser and just apply the dynamat to the existing paint on the cab and put the mat over that, dont stick it to the mat. I swear by that stuff, just doing my doors insides made a huge difference in noise reduction and I have not even got to do the cab floor yet.

The stuff sticks to just about anything but loose dirt.

I read a lot of positive reviews about it. Have you tried it before as well?

No I haven't but I am on the lookout for this type of products. I got a lot of rust to deal with cleaning up.
