Stick c20 fuel lines mystery hose

Changed both tanks on my 83 c20. Previous owner has a small fuel filter on the end of the smaller line coming from the left tank to the engine bay. It just hangs there and vents to the air. Where is this line supposed to go and where can I find a diagram showing this? The tanks have 3 lines coming out of the pickup unit.

I'm guessing that its just a vent hose. They probably put a filter on it to keep bugs out.
