Air compressor, PB blaster, Oxy acetelene - for when you get ticked off, BFH- at least a 3 lb mini sledge, liquid refreshment of your choice, and a couple of friends to relieve you when you get tired of beating on it.

You might try and put an air hammer bit in and try to separate the arm from the knuckle. Good luck with that.

Put some heavy metal music on to help get you in the mood to beat the truck into submission. Seriously. I don't care if you only listen to country. You have get the right rhythm going when you are hammering on the truck. Feel free to laugh but everyone that has done this job is shaking their head in agreement.

Oh yeah you are probably going to need some Ibprofun too for your shoulder, back, arm, etc. There is nothing easy about this job. I suggest popping the drag link off first. I would also take the wheel off since you will need the room to swing the hammer also.

I am sure some others will join in shortly. Best of luck to you. You never know it might come loose with one swing of the hammer. In that case consider yourself very lucky.

Just beat the fock out of it, no matter how much of a fight it gives you. You can't just hit it with your purse either, give it everything you got with the biggest hammer in your toolbox. Once the cone washers pop up, you are in the home stretch.

When I removed mine, I beat on that arm for 30 min with a BFH! I still can't believe that arm survived the ordeal, to tell you the truth.

Jeez you guys...
Those cone washers have a split in them. You need to clean things up enough, wire wheel on a drill, to see the split in them buggers. Then take a 1/8" punch and grind about a 15* bevel on it so you can hook one side of the split in the cone. Wacking directly on one side of the cone and the other gets them moving.
Then go wild with the bfh... Turns a 6 hr job into 20 minutes.

Ya if you cant get the cones to move you could beat on it all day long and never get any where.

Another trick is to heat it up but not red hot(so you don't mess the temper up). just warm enough so that when you spray WD40 on it, the WD40 gets sucked in from the heat. This greatly speeds up any type of unseizing work you need to do with bolts and nuts.

Yes of course you still need big heat and cuss words and general violence...
And even when the damn thing is visibly loose and moved off the knuckle, you still have to keep beating it. Almost a comedy act... almost.

I've never had to heat them or mess with the washers. Just spray them with lube and wail on it with the BFH. It's never taken me longer than 5 minutes or so.

I have never had to heat them either but I have had them take a while to get off . I always use pb blaster and hit the arm downward all over and from the side , cuss words seem to help to.
