Shifter Linkage

I have a 83 c10 with auto trans th350, the question I have is , the shift linkage that hooks up to transmission that goes into a bracket on frame are there suppose to be a bushing that sit in the hole the rod goes thru

From what I remember, there is a bushing and a spring.
