Hey I’m new to this. I have a 1984 c20 and I am wondering if it is possible to put in a 14 bolt c30 dually rear end to make my c20 better at pulling gooseneck. Is this possible, and what would I need to make it happen?

A dually 14 bolt would be from a cab&chassis and be narrower than a pick up dually axle which is a D70HD. Either axle will need the spring perches and shock mounts moved.

1 tons have their springs and brackets closer to the frame than a 10 or 20 series. The drums on narrow 14 bolt will hit your leaf springs.

Ok thanks for the reply. I think I’ll just wait and buy a c30 at that point haha better to keep the c20 stock than ripping things apart

Unless your C20 is a crew cab. Then a C30 axle will bolt right in.

What is difference from the single to the crew cab that makes the axle bolt on without modification?

All crew cabs (20/30) have 30 series frames/spring mounts, etc. Rear suspension spacing is different on 1 tons.

If you used a D70HD (wider) from a dually pick up it would work and visually fit a dually bed, you’d only need to move the perches and shock brackets.
