Passenger floor pan heat shield

Im working on replacing the floor pans in my square body. Does this heat shield serve a critical purpose for anything? Im not making a show truck or anything nor am I restoring it to be original. Contemplating just cutting it off and leaving it off

That heat shield just protects the firewall/inside the truck from the heat of the factory manifold. It gets real close to the firewall there. If you're using headers or different manifolds that don't get close to the firewall, get rid of it

If you like your passengers to have a year round foot warmer, remove it. That round thingy with the 3 bolt flange gets a little warm…I think. lol

If it's not in the way or hurting anything, I'd leave it so your passenger can take off shoes and not get burnt.

But that's just me.

I would keep it as my wifes preferes here feet not to be slowly roasted. Just my 0.02$.
