does anyone sell a direct fit parallel flow condenser that isn’t $300+? Or is my best option to buy a universal one for $80-90 and have some fittings made?

Also, are the condensers directional, or can I mount a universal parallel either way?

On a related note, if I get a universal one, how big should I go? As big as will fit?

I was able to fit a 15.5" x 30.5" universal PF Condenser # 12-0568A, which I purchased from Arizona Mobile Air. I bought it in 2006 and its still working, so they seem to hold up well.

I bolted a piece of angle bracket across under it to provide support from the bottom, and also used the flat brackets that came with it. I also switched to a Sanden compressor, so I had an A/C shop make up hoses with the right fittings.

JW, what compressor and o-tube are you running? While the R4 can be made to work decently, I still think it’s the principal weak point, and I also think that a tube with a smaller orifice helps more. I know the physical properties of R134a don’t really justify the old tube and fin style condenser, but I take comfort in knowing that if the worst happens, I can flush the shards out of the condenser instead of having to throw it in the trash and start over.
