Just purchased my latest project truck last week.....it's an 84 c10 2wd shortbox with a 350tbi and a 700r4 trans. I have already installed a 5, 7 drop using spindles and coils up front and a flip kit, shackles and a c notch in the rear. Although the previous owner did some of the bodywork, there's still a bit to finish up. I will post some pics up as soon as I can. This will be my first build in a number of years...I got the itch after working in my friends 69 camaro build recently.
The motor runs smooth, shifts and drives fine, just needs to get smogged.

Over the weekend, I installed a set of staggered 20" Riddler 645 rims...8" up front and 10" in the rear. Both tuck fine, except the front fenders will have to be ditched to save the tires. Looks like I'll need to do some trimming soon so I can get it on the road.

looks like I can get and share some great tips and info on this site!

Thanks guys for the welcome. The new tires and wheels are on. I took her for the maiden voyage yesterday to go buy some replacement seatbelts (previous owner took them out). While out, I also returned to the tire shop where I purchased the wheels and tires. Seems they mistakenly mounted one of the front tires in reverse (directional tires)...so they quickly swapped it over for me and....gave me some free lugnuts for my trouble. After a quick re-torque I was on my way.

Looks like I need to source the trim for the front grill, the wiper cowl parts, and some misc interior pieces. Will a salvage yard be my best bet...or catalog order? I don't want to end up buying more pieces that need work.

Welcome fellow Arizonan. Now its you me and Val, we almost got a club going :)

Check out rock auto for a grill, I got one from them for about 20 bucks. I figured I would be drilling holes, trimming **** and painting a bunch of **** but it showed up ready to install and looked perfect. Im willing to bet its from the same manufacturer LMC gets their grills from, they just charge 400 bucks instead.

For headlight bezels I went through lmc, they were 10 bucks a side if I recall.

Thanks for the input Irishman. I looked up the grill trim at LMC...it's $20 per side. So,far I'll need approximately $500 worth of grill trim pieces, window gaskets through LMC. I'll check out Rock Auto.

If your just after the trim going around the grill check out wrecking yards. I got a complete set for my 85 at a pick-n-pull in Reno for about 20 bucks. I did a little re-do on my whole front clip for under 100 bucks, I wish I could remember exactly what I did but most of all I wish I was as resourceful when I was broke because it turned out awesome. And I only spent 100 bucks or so.

I got lucky and found a local Phoenician with all the parts I needed. I ended up with a chrome front bumper, brackets, upper, metal wiper valance, lower and side grill trims, passenger side marker light, two ash tray springs, a torque converter cover, steering colomn plastic cover piece and the steel piece under the steering wheel...all for $100. Once I get further into the rebuild, I will have a better idea of the essentials needed. I assured him that I would return for more parts. He has approximately 15 trucks at his disposal and gets 5 more a month. He is also quite the guru at knowing what parts work with what years and the minor differences. His bundle prices make it worth the drive. I tried several salvage yards, but gave up. Looks like I have a decent source now for all the hard to find stuff. I'm still keeping to my budget on parts sinc the paint will be the big ticket item. Still deciding on color schemes.

I will end up using a source such as Rock auto for the window and door seals, since these will need to be new and not used. Lmc truck is pricey.

I rebuilt my doors with stuff from LMC, the vent window rubbers were somehow dry rotting and cracked within 6 months of installing them. The window truck felt was also screwed up somehow. It would not stay in the window track and the window was incredibly hard to roll up.

Good to know. I need a reliable source for the window and door seals. I don't want to buy used seals and be in the same situation in a few years.
