Hello,

I need your opinion since you are very knowledgeable. I am not knowledgeable in this area but I am willing to learn.

I just bought a 1982 chevy k10 from my brother for $3000 and I would like to ask you if its a good deal or not.

I haven't driven the truck because the torque converter and transmission pump seem to be bad. It's going to cost around 1200-1300 for a transmission rebuild. The breather on the valve cover is also leaking oil, I don't know what that means. There is heavy rust underneath the truck, frame and other components such as the shocks. there is also rust on the area between the doors and the windshield. The carburetor also has an issue to where the truck wont start unless you pour some gas in the air filter area. the interior is also in bad shape. their also seems to be leaks by the transfer case.

I will attach the pics that I do have and let me know if its worth the hassel.

The engine is a 350 with an edelbrock manifold, edelbrock 1406 carb, and some type of cam.

my brother doesn't know much more about the truck since he received it in a trade about a year ago. he used it for a fishing truck and the previous owner used it as a hunting truck.

your help and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I got a mostly rust free cab on a '84 k10 for $1k. It had some oil leaks and 2 very small rust spots on the kick panels and needed a new bed and new shocks. It was stock height on 30's with the stock 305 in it.

Take that as you will. The rusted out A-pillar on yours would have made me run for the hills

I (as well as most folks on this site) hate being the bearer of not so good news. Not to say you are getting a bad deal, but considering what looks to be a terminal case of corrosion, a wiped out tranny, standard 10 bolt rear, etc you may want to consider asking for a 1.5 or 2k rebate from your bro..

widshield rust

That rust around the windshield is bad news. I just got done repairing a cab on a 76 that had both bottom corners of the windshield rotted out. From what I see there it is bound to be very bad underneath.. It is probably leaking in your cab and rotting the floor out..

If I had to buy it (which I wouldn't), I wouldn't pay more than $1500 for that truck.

I wouldn't pay more than $750-1000 for it personally.

The breather leaks oil because the valve covers don't have baffles in them. The solution is different valve covers or changing the breather more than you want to.
The rust abound the windshield?
No.
Walk away.
The truck is cool lookin though, but it's not 3 grand worth of PARTS.

All that truck needs is another truck.
