I bought the Dorman 42631 wiper arm to use J style wipers as mentioned in a previous post for my 1980 GMC, I can't get them on all the way to lock them in place, any suggestions?
Or maybe they will be ok?
Thank you!

There is a locking catch on them. It doesn't pull back far enough to go all the way on. I used a Dremel to whittle it back a bit, then it worked fine.

Here is the locking mechanism on these wipers, and it appears that no part of it seems to be hitting that I can tell, could you possibly show me where yours was hitting?
It may just be where this mounts to the wiper mechanism is a little thicker.

If you look down where the arrow points, you can see where possibly these tapered is locking up

The J style are the way to go, I remember loosing a wiper blade on my 79 towing my trailer in a raging rainstorm. Of course it was the driver’s side.

It appears to me that the taper, as it goes deeper into the wiper arm gets narrower than the wiper motor will allow. I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this?
