Anyone mount a winch upside down? Lookin to mount under the radiator for a hidden look and still reach the spool release.

Rah joe. With a 3" body lift I got room for days. Would just be nice to keep the stock front bumper, slap on a fairlead and hide it with a plate. Never know when you would need an extra pull

I had a winch behind my stock bumper for a while until I found an old winch bumper.

I will post some pics. I had it "backwards" and everything worked fine for me until I sold the set up and to my knowledge the current owner has not had any problems.

If you get the m12000 the end cap with the lever is clockable so you can put it anywhere u want to. I think diy4x winch mount center says this. I never tried it but i was thinking same thing till i came across another bumper im gonna use.

I am surprised the winch behind the front bumper is not a more common thing. I wanted a winch realllllyyy bad, and could not wait for the right bumper to come along so I had to scratch the itch. I kept that set up for about a year, used it a few times, one of which being in that "snow" (SC drivers...) and a few other times to get myself out of a bind in the swamp.

I had mine mounted behind the bumper for a while on a homemade mount, the feet were pointing towards the back of the truck. It worked just fine for years but then I decided I wanted to mount it on a reese mount and just have a reese behind the bumper. My bumper isn't stock though. With a stock bumper you could put the reese flush with the bumper and use a flip-down license plate holder from like an old pontiac and have some kind of license plate on the front to cover it till you need it.

I thought of that as well in a receiver hitch front and back then run wires with a quick connect to both so i could pull out front or back. Then store it in the tool box so doesn't get stolen.
