I was recently given an 87 k20 with a 350 ci engine. The truck used to be driven regularly about a year ago. I went to go start it but noticed there was no antifreeze in tank or radiator. Filled with water and truck started but clutch petal had to be pressed all the way to the floor. My questions are: is there a cleaner to run through cooling system to get rid of rust? Is the clutch trashed or does it need adjusting or something else ( it is a hydrolic clutch don't know if that is common or not)? What should I replace or do before starting it again? Thanks for any advice.

There is a safety interlock switch on the clutch pedal requiring the pedal to be pressed before it will start, pretty common. You can override it by unplugging the switch and jumping a small wire in the plugin on the harness. Check your local parts store for coolant flushing chemicals, they should be able to hook you up.

My truck has a brand new clutch and I still have to push it pretty much to the floor for it to start. This normal.
