The 80 square eye is not as aerodynamic as the 81 and ups :)

I suspect a brick with a tapered edge is still a brick aerodynamically.

And, round (eyes) are more aerodynamic than flat eyes.

So, just saying...

My old blue nova i had last year it was a 78 4dr 250 with a T5 swap and a 2.56 rear it had 26'' tall tires it turned 2500 at 95 mph but that overdrive was useless unless i was going faster than 85 the final ratio in OD was .80.
It felt like a century getting it to 85 with that tired 6 cyl in it.

Squarebodys had improved aerodynamics over the previous generation 67-72.
Square eyes are actually even more 'improved aerodynamically' compared to round eyes.

So yeah, testing.

My aunt bought a new '76 Nova with the 305.If you just stomped the gas pedal down it still wouldnt bark the tires, it was a slug of a car in that way.Then the rear shocks failed,and after that the transmission started making noise.Traded that junker off quick!

Haha yeah I guess. ;)
Still wouldn't run mine much more than highway speeds with the current rubber. She'd take more for sure but the tires would be the real limiting factor. Then there's the manual brakes...

This nova was 3 on the tree but the shift mechanism in the column was junk so i swapped it for a mid 80's s10 t5. The only things i had to do was get a custom clutch made from southern ky clutch which i highly recommend they can do anything and had a drive train company mod my factory drive shaft I had to cut a hole in the floor hump to fit.

Nothing went wrong with the car because it was a base model with no power options and i drove it to work for a while and i the best economy i got was 24.3 highway which isn't terrible for a old 6 cyl nova.

manual disc is better than manual drums.

The 67-72 trucks were called the "Action Line". 73-87 were called the "Rounded Line". But not to "round" though
Which is funny, your right they were termed by the engineer the rounded line or something. We all call them squares though. They were talking about the top of the cab corners and the doors.

I’ve owned 4 all of them would do over 100 except for my crew cab with 4.56 gears all stock motors only 1 with an overdrive.

I’ve had square body’s since the late 80’s when I was a 16 year old kid.
