well what is it ?? maybe a heat shield?? new to the site and still trying to figure my way around thanks for the help

Never noticed that panel before, it looks structural, like extra bracing to make that section stronger rather than a heat shield. Heat shields have an air gap behind them and that looks to be flush in places.

Are there any holes behind it?

its about 3/4 of an inch off the wall with no air passage into the cab and an open passage on the bottom

I'm thinking heat shield but I'd agree it looks close alot of places, but if it's got a gap it's a heat shield.
