Gas spilling when filling up

Finally got to a happy ending.

I loosened the nuts on the bolts holding up the tank a bit to lower the tank by 1/4 or 1/2 an inch in case the angle was too shallow for the filler hose.

However, I think the real issue was that the fuel filler vent hose was kinked. I left the hose pretty long from the fuel sender to the hard line and it got pretty squished shut during tank install. I shortened up the hose to remove the excess and I was able to fill up successfully (although a little slower than before) without any more leaks.
