Can I use a fuel tank from a Chevy truck in the 90's to replace either one of my duel tanks on my 87 TBI truck?

Not without some mods, unfortunately. Theoretically, it's possible, but what's the gain?

exactly the 88-98 tanks mount inside the frame, not outside like 73-87's.

Also you can just use any old 73-87 tank and then put in the electric fuel pump if you wanted, it just won't be baffled.

I was going off of what was available at the Pick n Pull. I'll just wait for the right stuff to come around.

We have a fabulous gas tank interchange thread around here somewhere.

what's wrong with your tank?

if it's rusted or something then a junkyard can be the same shape. I'd buy new or fix the one you have.

if you are wanting one to do fuel injection setup then I'd just use mine and put in a fuel pump sending unit setup and just not run it under 1/4 tank or so that way it stays submerged in fuel while driving.

I do have TBI. I was just thinking of changing out the 16 gal tanks for 20's.

You can mount a burb or blazer tank where the spare goes with 25-30 gal capasity.

Just did the same thing on my truck. They'll bolt right up, but you need the fuel filler hose and vent tube for the 20gallon tank, or modify the originals from the 16 gallon tank.
