Hello,
when replacing the rubber fuel lines in an 80s square is there a different type of fuel line that should be used?
I used to just buy rubber fuel line in the length I needed. With the changes in gas over the years do those old style lines hold up?
Thank you!
Kevin

I've read brake lines make for good fuel lines. Going to use those when i get rid of some rubber on my rig

SAE J30R7 (used for TBI or carb pump pressure) and SAE J30R9 (used for EFI high pressure) are the newer specification hoses that will hold up much better when using gas with ethanol. You can also buy EFI hose clamps that are a full-circle design that should tighten down better than standard worm clamps.

I found the cheapest source for EFI hose was online with Amazon where they sold it in various lengths (10 feet, etc.). Local parts store carries it, but per-foot price was way higher than buying online.

Harbor Freight carries a couple nice boxes of efi grade clamps, pretty decent price. You do have to buy both kits to get every size you need though. Have them on the 72 Super Beetle, modern fuel hose. Using the same for the C10 4.3 to 350 swap and carb converting my Vortec 350.

While the OP, or really anyone else, is already working under the hood… The colored silicone dirt bike gas cap vent lines at Cycle Gear or similar make excellent vacuum line… Perfect size for the transmission, cruise control, hvac and similar stub sections.
