Ok so im looking at new coils for the front of my 78, auto store has 2 listings, both for my big ten. One is a regular constant rate coil with a rate of 843, the other is a hd constant rate spring with a rate of 1060. I dont know what spring rates are so im a lil lost here. Is my big ten factory with hd? I want it to sit level to the back end as i have a low nose stance right now. Anyone learn me here....

The nose slightly lower is normal. Tired springs may exacerbate this. The higher spring rate may be for big block trucks.

spring rate 843# per inch of compression or 1060# per inch of compression. f44 big 10 is most likley the heavier 1060 of the two and will give you a stiffer ride. in theory the softer spring is longer so installed should give the same ride height.

It is a big ten but not a big block. Id really like it to look level. It definately has a rake to the front. Thanks for clarifying the rates. How hard do you think the 1060 will right

the big 10 came with a straight six stock and the heavy springs. a big block required the heavy springs upgrade for the standard chassis. yes 78 had big blocks in c10s. it will ride like a truck lol.. i definitely feel the road fortunately my seat are soft
