Hey yall got another ? I heard that there is a full floater conversion kit, for the 14 bolt Semi Floater
if this is true where do I go to buy this kit I already did a even steven semi floating axle swap for the burb and am in no mood or have the finances to go out and swap in a true Full Floater so I figure why not just make my own. I know its still not the big true 14 bolt but I say better to have a full floater than a non so thats why I am asking.:emotions122: man I hope there is one.

I've never seen one, but if they do exist, I can guarantee the kit is a lot more expensive than just bolting a full floater under the truck.

I dont know about in MI but in NY 14bolts are a dime a dozen and can be found for dirt cheap

I understand your going to need a 3/4 version but still not very hard to come by

Yeah I haven't found any kits for the 14 bolt "SF" and the kits I did find for other axles were $1400.00 and up so yeah the next time I get some spending cash I am gonna just swap in a "FF" and do what a lot of guys have done and put that 5th gear in my 700 R4 but I don't know if that would be enough to lower the rpms on that 4.10 (open diff. by the way) and get acceptable cruising speed on the highway without it making the motor work harder. If not though then I would be more tempted to toy with the idea of pairing a de-computerized Allison 6 speed and a detroit locker in the 4.56 range and seeing if I can squeeze 23 mpg or better out of it and seeing if it will cruise at 70 mph comfortably in the dream zone of 1800 rpm's range on the highway, it prob won't but one can try.By the way I drive a 85', 2WD, 3/4 ton, Burb' with a 6.2 diesel,700 R4 tans. and a replaced "SF" with a 4.10 open diff. What do you guys think,5 speed money saver for the short run or save the dough and go all out with a 6 speed and build it for the long run ?
