dumb question, do you have to have a cam retaining plate on 86 350

my brother took apart our 350 and i dont know what he did with the plate. do all 350's have them? can you buy them online?

Most pre roller 350s have cam thrust button on the front...they were machined for positive rearward thrust.
i believe the roller cams do have thrust plates.
The only stupid question here, is the one you Dont ask...so no worries!you can buy plates or buttons at summit, jegs, or the local speed shop should have them.

The retainer plate is used in the '87 and newer blocks that can accept a factory roller cam. The older blocks don't use one.
