I know the '79 I had was equipped with the tripod mirrors from the factory. I always assumed the dumbo mirrors showed up after the face lift in '81.

I know you could get an 80 with the dumbo mirrors but any ways I have always thought the dumbo mirrors coincided with the square fuel filler doors

I thought the square filler doors came in around '77 or '78. That '79 I had, had those also. And yes, the box was original to the truck.

here is a pic of my truck with mirrors like the ones in the center. I had a set of the LMC ones and they vibrated like crazy. I picked these up in the salvage yard. I believe my doors were off of a 77 and they had the inserts in them for these mirrors. I do like the dumbo ones better for the size yet somewhat cleaner look.

Manny I vote to go with the middle one. It matches the paint scheme and trim. FWIW.
