Anybody ever tried to make they own hard tonneau cover? Im thinking about giving it a shot, i wanna do a flush fit that will fit within the bed rails... But i think it will be easier to do to sit on top but still low profile!?!?

Do you have a general plan for the construction of this tonneau cover? Fiberglass, canvas or vinyl? I think a soft cover would be fairly simple but for the latch on the tailgate end, i have seen a few and it dose not look like someting easy to make without some cnc equipment.

Don't laugh, some joker in my hometown did that back when I was in high school. Looked dumb as crap.

I thought about making one out of plywood for the C10, it would be fairly small since it's a stepside. Over the rails, beveled edges, thin layer of closed cell padding on top, then wrap the whole thing in black vinyl. Haven't figured out a good quick-release type hinge or latch yet. Also thought about a built in prop rod (made of stainless tube).
