So I bought an 83 K10 on 3/4 ton axles. After getting it home I found out the front 10 bolt was shot. Packed with mud, pinion bearings gone, rung gear teeth missing, spindle bearings so far gone that I couldn't remove the hubs. The scariest thing was I drove it like that.

I decided to put a dana 60 under the front end. I found a good deal on a dodge dana 60 out of a dually with 4.56 gears to match my rear end. I had to turn the dually hubs down so they were like srw hubs. I'm running dodge rotors with chevy calipers and everything else pretty much bolted up. I also made my own spring plate for the passenger side because of the 2 studs on on the differential housing. I used a piece of 3/4" 4140 plate (maybe a little overkill) that I had laying around.

In the process of doing this I learned a lot about the dodge and chevy dana 60's so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

The only thing I need to figure out now is why this thing seems reved way out on the highway. 4.56 gears, sm465 and 38" tires have me at 2800-2900 rpms at 55 mph. I think the tach is off though. It's a sunpro with dip switches in the back to set it.

I have a K10 on 38s D60 front/14b-ff rear running 5.13s and it runs close to 3,000 rpms at 60 mph so your tach may be a little off. Or the speedo, making you think the tach's off. You can check the speedo with a gps. BTW 3/4" steel on the spring plate isn't overkill. The ones I got from ORD are HUGE.

Yes they are the same width. The dodge spring perches are 1/2" wider apart. With my 6" lift springs they lined up really well. Also the chevy axle has 3" wide spring pads and the dodge has 2.5" wide pads. Most lift springs are 2.5" wide anyways.

It has to be the tach then. My speed if from a gps. Might be time for a new tach.
