I found a 1978 Olds Delta 88 in a junkyard with the premium radio of the time AC Delco AM/FM Stereo Cassette 4 channel radio. Bought it for $10. I cut the plugs that go to the radio with 6" of length on them. Installed it and plugged in my single speaker for the moment and it made a huge difference. Best part its the same size as my original AM/FM non-stereo radio. Bolted right in.

Compare GWH341 to the back of any radio you are considering. In some catalogs they use that number (or equivalent) as a 73-87 model some list as a 77-90, 78-91 etc. I used the female version of that plug for my 91. Is using a later model shaft radio acceptable being its not "correct"? Being that you have no wiring you are in control here.

Ordered it.

Crispy, thanks for the link. I, too, am looking for the same cheap radio but since my wiring harness is all butchered I went ahead and ordered the plug assembly. Since I'm determined to get a stock radio at least I can wire this up ahead of time. Thanks again! trukman1

I know Jack **** about radios.

What's the difference between 8 ohm and 4 ohm speakers?

Which would I need for OEM radio?

Should be 4ohm. 8ohm is for your home stereo speakers. Car speakers are 4ohm.

Got a GM AM/FM supposedly 78 Caprice. States on the top, stamped into the steel cover "DO NOT OPERATE WITHOUT 8 to 10 OHM SPEAKERS" Also GM part # 16001650. So if you are looking for speakers you better be sure to get what matches your unit.
