I've got a '73 C20, converting to K20 and using the tranny hump from a 89 V2500. Do I buy the carpet for the year appropriate? LMC doesn't even cover the v3500, so if I buy for the year, do I pick the '80-87 version of their carpet?

the later 3/4 ans 1 tons are the same basic cab shape, but have the high hump. Just get the carpet for a high hump 73 K20

You're saying the later square bodys have the high hump, meaning '80-'87 I'm assuming. Then you say get the '73 high hump version....that's real confusing since they list 2 seperate carpets for the '73 K20 and the '80-'87 K20.

Are you saying there was a change in the cab floor shape at some point between early model squares and later years? (Besides low or high hump trans tunnel which is more equipment specific than year or gvw specific)

The real question is if you want loop carpet or cut pile carpet. It changed in the mid 70's sometime.

There are differences between the 2wd high hump and 4x4 high hump tunnels, but the carpet manufacturers do not discriminate. It's either low hump or high hump.

In short, just get the color you want, in the carpet type you want, for a high hump floor.

I'll do that. So, if I understand this correctly, there are 3 humps, a 2 wheel drive column shift, a 2 wheel drive floor shift, which you're calling a high hump, and the 4 wheel drive hump, also a high hump but shaped differently. I can see why they'd only offer 2 versions.

Essentially, yes.

Also from what I've seen, '91 Suburbans and crew cabs got the 4x4 high hump tunnel, even if 2wd.

Also it has been said that all 2wd manuals got the high hump. But that's incorrect as 3 on the tree did not. @73cheySuper you worded it correctly.

/\/\ This is what I meant. I knew there was a difference in the type or cut of carpet in the years somewhere. And at some point later in the run everything got the high hump.

Thank you both for clarifying.
I’d have gone with early model to get loop carpet for the 86 back in the day but wasn’t sure.
Good to know.
Thx again
