Well folks while driving from Ft Bragg NC to Ft Sill Oklahoma ole blk Betty starts making a rattling then shhhhh sound, I start to smell the good ole sweet smell of coolant and white smoke coming from the hood. I pull over and out poors green green green on the ground and spewing. So here I am stuck in Arkansas in a town called Russellville off of highway 40 west lol.. Of course nothing is open, so she sits at the Goodyear parking lot waiting on them to show up at 7am. Wondering what the prob might be.... Any ideas fellas? Hopefully it's just a busted hose

That sucks. Hope by now you're fixed and back on the road. If it wound up being a hose, and you didn't...I'd recommend replacing all of them and put a Mr. Gasket brand thermostat in it too.

Hey guys just found that my water pump is destroyed, so they are replacing that, all 4 belts and a coolant system flush. Grand total of $750 ...

wow seems like highway robbery, of course you were traveling on the highway so that's ok. waterpumps are like $25 and new belts are $30. sounds like a lot of labor for a hr job

man too bad you didn't have any tools with ya. That job could be done for around $100 and about 2 hours of your time with just some basic tools :( Glad they're getting you back on the road, though.

F@#& ME!!!!

My brother and I were traveling to a car show once. He in his '89 Blazer, towing his car on a trailer, and me driving my Brit car. After 4hrs on the freeway, we got to the exit, took it, and while waiting at the traffic light at the end of the exit, I notice coolant pouring out of the front of the K5. We nursed it to an Autozone that was still open (11pm) and purchased a new Bosch water pump and coolant. Installed it right there in the parking lot, with what tools we were carrying. Might have taken us 2hrs, at the most.

I'm about 1.5hr from Russellville. just seen the post or I would have been more than glad to help slap a water pump on. things like this happen all the time and it sucks when you draw the short straw. Been there.
Glad it got fixed and you were on your way!
