I couldn't get one for my '85 a few years ago and had to buy the whole control. Last photo has the exploded part numbers. Look at #6.

I wonder if I need one of these to get my defroster to work? It worked when I bought the truck in 2019 but it stopped but the regular heat works. I pulled all the AC components out except for the box on the firewall to clean the engine etc, so not sure if it works yet.

I think if that valve fails it defaults to the floor or defrost. I can’t recall. I bought one of those cheap vacuum testers to make sure all the vacuum pods worked. When I determined they did, it led me to the valve being the issue.

I know the complete control assembly was under $200 when I bought it.

Craig 85. Where did you buy the assembly? I bought one from LMC and it did not have the switch.

Good luck finding a new unit. I got lucky and found a new in the box GM unit last year. It took many searches to find one. I got the last one from them. I had issues with the plastic, rubber, socket that the vacuum lines plugged into. The part that goes on the switch #6. I found one at the junk yard that was in better shape. It fixed most of my problems. The heat blows out of the bottom the AC out the vents , the defrost not so much.
