I tore my door apart to swap the door locks form one side to the other, which was a FAIL. But I took pics and info anyway to share.

Here is the location of the phillips head screws.

BTW, those lock actuators are the same in many 80's GM cars, just the little brackets are different. They can be transferred.

Good to know. :handshake:

Looking at the pics above, as somebody mentioned in another thread, the door locks are the same for both sides, but the brackets that mount to them are different with the "D" cutout shape.

In the 3rd pic is the two 1/2 hex head bolts and thier locations for holding the lock actuator. One you take those out, it is just hanging on the linkage inside. You just need to pull towards the inside panel of the door to pop it off the linkage. Then the wiring connector comes off easily.

My little helper was perfect size to reach the bottom of the door after her Dad dropped the door lock mounting clip into it. :shitsweak:.

I pulled both actuators out. I treid the drivers side on the pass side and it worked fine. I tried using a test light to search for current on the driver's harness and had nothing while activating the switch. At this point I believe the wire is broken where it runs through the door hinges to the cab, that is my first guess, as both actuators and door locks are functional.

In the following pic is comaprisons of the left and right actuators. And you can see they are stamped to identify which side:

So I swapped the lock cylinders and put everything back together. Lil helper got the simple green and a rag and cleaned up the doors.
