I have put all the brackets on the truck after the rebuild but I can't find the locations of two that are mostly flat with triangle shapes cut out of them. It looks like something was hooked onto them because I can see wear on them but I don't have any parts left that have a triangle shape. This is my first rebuild and I made the classic mistake of not taking pictures. All help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'll post a picture later today of what the brackets I'm confused about look like.

Hope you haven't set the engine down yet because those pieces are the brackets that the forward ends of the transmission strut rods mount to.

They are clamped to the block by the motor mounts (the motor mount brackets have a triangular shaped bump that fits into your mystery plates).

If you don't have/use those struts anymore I woudn't worry about it. The motor mount brackets will still make up tightly without them.

 In all the sqaure bodies I've torn apart, I've never seen those before. Interesting.

They're only used in 4WD (K & V) with automatic transmissions.

Hmm, mine must have all had previous owners that decided they weren't worth keeping. Or forgot where they went. Lol.

These are the brackets that I have and I hope you're not right about them going on the engine mounts because I've got almost everything put back on the motor inside the truck. I was wondering why those bars that go from the transmission cover were to short cause I figured they went to the extra hole by the engine mount but they are to short but if you say I don't really need it then I'll probably just leave them off because I don't plan on off roading this truck. I'm just trying to restore it and get it looking like new again.

Those are them though. Do I really need them?

You could probably get by without them if you stay out of the woods.

Man, I REALLY HATE that image host. Too many ads.

I apologize for the "off-color" pop-ups. I don't know why Imagevenue does that. They even make a federal case about not marking adult material as such.

I always select the "family safe" option when uploading but, for some reason, they occasionally link to that livejasmine site. It's gotten to the point where I now make a habit of checking them myself immediately after posting. If the link redirects (about 90% of the time) I delete the images and re-post.

That always seems to solve the problem and it never happens twice in a row??

I must not have been paying attention this time.

Remember, never x-out of a pop-up - many times it will divide itself and you'll have two running. Go down to the bottom, right click on the offending link and select "close". That kills the redirect and it generally won't reappear during that browsing session (no matter how many times you open image links).
