Hey guys. I am looking to grab some info about swapping my th350 to a 4 or 5 speed manual...it will be behind a mildly built 350 ci and I would like to do a fair amount of auto-x and occasional road track days so it has to be something that will hold up to 350+ ft lbs of tq. I have been reading that a t5 isn't the way to go as they don't hold lower very well. I would really like to keep it pretty inexpensive so anything like a TKO would be out. Is there some thing out of a 60's and up Camaro or Corvette I could use?

I had a t5 in my 86 z28 and beat the snot out of it and never broke. Was behind a mild 355 as well. Could use a NV out of a newer silverado. Longer throw but i know a canadian running 485 through one.

muncie rock crusher, saginaw MAYBE, heard they are weak, borg warner etc. basically a car 4 speed trans.

IF you have a short tail th350 they bolt right in and use the same driveshaft, if not then you just need a longer driveshaft. it still bolts in the same.

I had a saginaw camaro 4 speed from a 74 camaro in a truck that had a saginaw 3 speed on the column stock. then replaced it with a short 6 inch tail th350.

the muncie's are strong and highly wanted, like m20 m21 and m22.

not the sm465 type, those are stock truck type with granny low.I've seen muncie's for around $500 or so on ebay and locally, sometimes more, but every now and then less.
