Hi all, it's my first time on here and first time to own of a c-10. The truck is badazz and my grandpa had one like it so it brings back memories. I bought a 1984 c10 with a 305 and th350 in it. It does have some dents on each door and the little window on the drivers side is broken. When I was talking to the guy he told me it was a short bed and after talking him down to $600 form $1000 I drove almost 2 hours one way. Come to find out it was a long bed but no problem because I actually liked the way it looked and could vision it lifted up about 4 inches. He did give me a set of chrome headers and exhaust tips and a nice tool box. Only problem it had was no carpet dash needed work and the carburetor needs to be rebuilt or replaced. We were able to get it started and drove it up the trailer but died once up there. I have a 5.3l LM7 in storage that I was going to put in an El Camino but it was to far gone to restore. What I want to know is am I better off just dropping a 350 and calling it a day or should I rebuild the 5.3 and buy a trans and all the extra things I need to get it to work? Also, if I do go with the 5.3, the truck has two tanks and am wondering how would I do the fuel pump? or can i swap it to one tank only and put an in-tank pump? Thanks for all the info and advice and cant wait to get this badboy up and running perfect.

You will be much happier with the 5.3.

Don't need to buy a trans to run a 5.3. TH350, 400 bolt right up using the flex plate spacer for seating the converter.

If you used an inline fuel pump, no need to worry about the dual tanks. And there is nothing wrong with using an inline pump.

Cost will be the determining factor as usual. But for the reliability of an LSx and the over all power of a stock 5.3, you cant lose.

Good Luck!

Anything without a TV cable is ok, but for OD it needs to be at least a 4L60E.
