That formula you showed is the one I used when my 355 was being built so I could get the carb I really needed instead of carbs some guys use. You know, the guys who as soon as they get a 350 and put headers on it will assume a 750 is what it needs. Then when it won't run they think it's something else. My computation came out to a 580 cfm so I figured a 600 would be fine and I've never looked back. But even further I did not use a 600 double pumper either. I looked at what the some configured '70's Z28's used and it was a "service replacement" 600. I didn't know what that was and as it turned out was a single pump with vacuum secondaries. Worked out great. That carb won't run out of gas until you get over 6200 rpm. Well, my engine is set up to max out at 5600 so I'm good.
