2 ?s did 74 jimmy come with a dana44?

Had a guy tell me that my 74 jimmy didnt come with a dana 44 only a corporate 10 bolt. Is that possible? My truck has a 44 in it now . Also does any one know the length of the drive shaft for a 74 gmc jimmy? Thanks in advance!

I believe the corp 10 bolt came in 1977 so yes, your Jimmy should have a Dana. It should have a fill plug in the cover.

Which driveshaft? Front or rear? Which transfer case?

Rear with 203: 32-25/32"
Rear with 205: 39-1/2"
Rear with Dana 20: 41-9/32"

Front with 203/Dana: should be 24-1/4"
No info about 205 or Dana 20.

Someone got cute with a chrome diff cover so dont know what stock was. But thank you very much again for the help ! Dumb question but is that the collapsed length?

That is the installed length from u-joint to u-joint.

Post some pics, we can tell you what it is. It's possible someone installed a later axle.

I know some one who has a lot of drive shafts so if i tell him 24 1/4 that should be enough for him to go by is there a part #

It came with a D44 up front and a 12 bolt in the back, I had a '74. Unless you swap to manual lockouts or have a manual(or got really lucky) you'll always be running in 4wd as they came with a NP203 transfer case.

Yep, for a 74 CC would be correct. Shoulda been a full time Dana 44 up front if it was an Auto Trans. IIRC SM465 granny 4 speeds came with NP205's and Dana 44 up front and 12 bolt in the rear.
