Hello Everyone. I’m finally getting around to posting after a few years of reading and searching for info.

This is my 1983 K5 Blazer.

She was originally an Almond/White 6.2 from Florida. I found her used and abused in Abilene, and snatched her up in Dallas back in 2016.

She’s had my heart from day 1.

She’s sporting a 1997 Vortec 5.7 with springs and a cam, along with an upgraded MPFI spider and LT headers. A painless harness and a 411 PCM to control the engine and the 1999 4L60e I built up to replace the old tired 700r4.

A 4”RC lift
Both axles rebuild with 4.56 gears.
Crossover Steering
CV driveshaft
SoftTopper
2000 Camaro power Buckets
2008 Yukon 3rd Row seat
Carpet and lots of insulation
Banging Sound system.
New Dash and vents, trim, etc.
headliner
LED headlights
Vintage Air
Rear Disc brakes
Vette Master cylinder
PV4 combo valve

Plus a ton of other maintenance/repairs along the way as you would expect from a 40 year old.

This was the day I limped her home from Dallas to Helotes back in 2016. Had to stop at Bucees for fuel….and coolant, and brake fluid, and ATF, and power steering fluid.

Is your tach mounted to the bolt for the radio support bracket on the bottom of the dash? Mine's mounted in the exact same spot, couldn't bring myself to drill holes. You're the only other one I've seen who put it down there. Makes me feel that much better about mine lol.

Nice truck!

Yup. Used an existing hole. With the column shift and tilt, it didn’t make for a good solid “hose clamp” install.

I figured it would work until I get Dakota Digital RTX. Plus being a 4L60e, I have it programmed to shift exactly how I want and never needed to watch the tach once it was tuned.

Thanks. I kept the factory Almond and added the Corvette Torch Red (got a smoking deal on a gallon). I was worried it wouldn’t look right but it turned out nice and I’ve never seen one like it.

I finally bit the bullet and got the Dakota Digital RTX gauges with the OBD2 interface. This is a very nice kit. Not a single complaint (other than the price).

I’ve also recently added crossover steering, removed the bottom leaf from the front RC lift springs, and moved the axle 1” forward. Finally a smooth ride and no more rubbing.

This past weekend I pulled the tailgate strikers off my K5 and a buddies Jimmy, welded up the wear grooves, and filed them back to fit the “catches” in the tailgate. No more tailgate rattle.

Oh, and 95% Nano Ceramic tint on the windshield. You don’t even know it’s there other than the amazing heat reduction. I no longer feel the sun cooking me and the dash pad.

The family and I took it down to the coast over 4th of July weekend. My daughter slept in the backseat with a blanket, so I think it helped with the AC cooling quite a bit.
