1981 wipers

New owner of a 1981 c10. My wipers are spraying washer fluid when ever the wipers are on. The previous owner changed the wiper switch. I just got a new motor for it and it still sprays all the time. Has anyone seen this? Looks like it still has original controller on it. Part # 14056557. Found where it changed to new number 88960346 in 1990. Think it's a bad controller? It is a 3 connector motor. It came with factory code CD4 intermediate w/s wiper system.

Never seen it, but it sounds like the wiper pump line got feed into the switch line, along with the low/high.

Does it do it in low and high?

Yes all speeds. I was wondering if wires are touching in bulkhead connector. Could it have the wrong switch?

For the washer motor to engage the switch has to go to ground at the motor. Should be a white and pink wire at the washer. Do you have the standard type wiper motor with the pump at the top with the feed and 2 outlets?

See attachment (wiper diagram labeled)- this is the basic setup on how the wipers work- white wire come from fuse box and supplies power. The switch is what adds a ground- depending which wire the switch grounds will cause different a speed or the washer. The pink wire is what the switch will ground to maker it spray. Some how the pink wire is getting grounded no matter the switch position.

I would start by checking the connections- I included an attachment (wipers) so you can see the order the wires should be in connection to the switch.

Another possibility is if you have a delayed wiper system and the module is shorted some how. _ see attachment (delay). In theory you can remove the delay module and plug the connectors together.
