Any tips on why it clunks so hard when shifting into reverse. The u-joints were recently replaced and made no difference.

How do I post my video ?

Couldn't get the media to play.

Without knowing anything else, it could be that the yoke is wore out beyond spec. My '73 C20 had that issue, but when dropping into any gear, not just reverse. Stuck some shims between the U-joint cap and yoke. Problem solved.

I couldn't even see a video, let alone get one to play. My '80 K25 with 350/TH400/NP205 has a pretty distinct clunk into reverse as it loads up. I always just assumed it was normal. It is more pronounced when the idle is high obviously.

Ditto, except K15 350/350C/205.

I feel better about it now ! :)

Video played fine for me. Crystal clear using iPhone. I have the same issue tho. It doesn’t look like the rear end has too much play or anything but I’m no expert. Hope u figure it out for all of us! You should post a video of you putting it in gear as well. Tires on and off the jacks

My 86 c20 had a loud metallic ping/clunk when shifting into gear in either direction. Had the rear drive shaft center bearing replaced which fixed it right up. You'll only have one of those bearings if you have a 2 piece rear drive shaft.

Im not sure if that's what your hearing or not but it could be worth a look.

Is this a recent problem, or has it always done it?

I'm fairly certain mine has excessive gear lash that is causing it. If the driveshaft has been done and you don't see other external issues you may have to pull the cover and start measuring stuff and looking for problems.

My K5 clunks when shifting form D to reverse or reverse to D. Park to reverse nothing. Everything in my drivetrain is ok and up to specs so I think it's normal.
It was worse before I fixed everything but it's still clunking. My c20 doesn't clunk.

Could be excess axle gear lash, driveline slop, or optionally, low/rev trans issues

Hopefully not the latter

Well, got my rear ended torn down to rebuild and add a locker and the backlash that it had was ridiculous... that’s probably where a good part of my clunk was coming from. Judging by the video, yours isn’t too much better than mine.
